Olá, espero que estejam todos bem. Estamos, mais ou menos, a meio de maio e faltam apenas cerca de 20 dias para eu chegar ao Japão. Então, o tempo está a passar muito rápido e eu vou sair da minha ilha no dia 1 de junho e, se Deus permitir e tudo correr bem, chego ao Japão, à minha nova cidade, Yokohama, no dia 3 de junho.
Nos Açores, a primavera já esteve aqui e já se foi embora e trouxe-nos de volta o inverno.
Tenho tido duas a três aulas de japonês por semana, para avançar na aprendizagem nesta fase final.
E neste ponto eu quero pedir as vossas orações para esta viagem longa que me espera e para o período de adaptação lá. Eu vou regressar com mais novidades, mas dependo das vossas orações nesta etapa. Mas quero ainda mais do que pedir as vossas orações, quero agradecer as orações que têm feito até aqui e a vossa parceria e o vosso apoio em amizade, em oração e especialmente no sustento financeiro, porque só graças a vocês e só porque vou convosco desta forma é que eu, de facto, posso ir. E só graças ao vosso sustento financeiro que já começou há alguns meses, é que podemos ir agora e que já podemos nos últimos nas últimas semanas comprar a passagem, assegurar uma habitação, para eu ter quando chegar lá conseguir o meu visto. Então, todas estas coisas foram asseguradas apenas pelo sustente financeiro. E graças a Deus, a este ponto, já conseguimos angariar o suficiente para garantir o sucesso e a longevidade, a sustentabilidade da missão durante o primeiro ano. E glória a Deus porque esses fundos já estão angariados.
O que falta é garantir o sustento para o segundo e o terceiro ano e continuando para além disso, se Deus assim permitir. Mas, para o segundo e para o terceiro ano, ainda faltam cerca de 750 € por mês para o total que garante a sustentabilidade da missão. Então, conto com as vossas orações e com a vossa parceria também a nível de sustento financeiro, se vocês se sentirem chamados para isso. Ao chegar ao Japão, a minha primeira prioridade vai ser instalar-me na minha nova casa, vai ser participar de uma conferência com todos os missionários da IMB no Japão, onde eu vou conhecê-los, e vou saber o que é que eles têm feito e como é que tem corrido o seu ministério no Japão. Então, orem por isso. E a minha primeira prioridade a médio prazo vai ser a aprendizagem do idioma e tornar-me fluente no japonês para poder partilhar o Evangelho com os japoneses. Então eu vou partilhando essas novidades, mas por favor estejam a orar comigo e muito obrigada pela vossa parceria até aqui e daqui em diante.

Hey guys, Rebeca here.
It’s so good to talk to you. It’s mid May and I’m about 20 days away from arriving in Japan. Can you imagine that? So, if everything goes well, I’ll be leaving my island on the 1st of June and Lord willing, arriving in Japan in my new city on the 3rd of June.
In the Azores, Spring was here, left already, and brought us back to Winter.
I’ve been having two to three weekly Japanese lessons to try and push forward a little bit on these final stages before going. In this stage, the main thing that I want to ask of you is to continue praying for me, please. Because in this stage it’s going to be essential that you are praying for my health and for my endurance and safety and protection in these long travels that await me and as well in the adaptation to the new place.
Having that said, I want to thank you. I want to thank you for having prayed for me thus far and for having already committed to this partnership and I’m so privileged to be your partner in mission and actually it’s the only reason why I can go right now. Not only because of your prayers and your friendship and your support in all those ways and more, but especially in this stage because of your support financially. I can only go because we have already a few people who have already started donating and we have already been able to save up some enough so that I was able to in the past weeks buy my ticket, get my visa and secure a place to live in Yokohama so that I can be moved there as soon as I arrive on the field.
Thanks to your support, we’ve already raised enough to make sure that the first year of mission is taken care of and it’s sustainable and praise the Lord for that. Thank you so much for your generosity. It means the longevity of this mission. And the only thing that we still have to fund raise is around €750 per month for the second and third year and beyond, if the Lord shows us that the mission should be longer. But we have open hands at this point.
We don’t know the full extent of this mission. But at least for the first three years, we are still working towards that fundraising goal. And so if you feel called to contribute in that way, thank you so much for listening to that call and joining in partnership. As soon as I arrive in Japan, my first priority will be to get settled, get used to the new place to live and then I will participate in a Japan cluster meeting. So every IMB missionary in Japan is gathering for a conference where I will get to meet them and I’ll get to hear about their work and know how their ministry is doing in Japan. So that that’s going to be super valuable.
And then midterm my main purpose and goal in the first year of mission is to get as fluent as I can in Japanese. So please be praying for that. So, I have relied on you up until this moment and I will continue to do so. And thank you so much for your friendship, for your support in every way. I’ll be back soon with more updates.
