“Queridos amigos e amigas, parceiros e parceiras em missão;
Bem-vindos ao terceiro boletim da Missão no Japão – o último a ser enviado antes da ida para o campo missionário!
Falta menos de um mês para a minha chegada ao Japão. Esta jornada começou há 9 anos com a minha aprendizagem do Japonês como um simples passatempo. Hoje, é graças à vossa parceria em oração, amizade e sustento financeiro que posso afirmar com confiança que chegou a hora de acontecerem as coisas para as quais o Senhor me vinha a preparar. É por testemunhar a forma como Deus não apenas me chama, mas vos chama a ir comigo que hoje tenho a certeza inabalável de que esta missão não nos pertence a nós, mas ao Senhor, e é por isso que “estou convencid[a] de que aquele que começou boa obra em [nós] vai completá-la até ao dia de Cristo Jesus.” (Filipenses 1:6).

Aqui estão as coisas que aconteceram desde o boletim anterior!
- Conheci melhor a equipa missionária da IMB em Yokohama, e formali-zámos a decisão de me integrar na mesma.
- Passei 19 dias desafiadores e edifi-cantes em missão no Senegal.
- Passei o meu último Natal com a minha família inteira antes de me mudar para o outro lado do mundo.
- Percorri Portugal continental e Espanha para partilhar sobre a missão no Japão com muitas igrejas novas e amigos de longa data, e ainda dar concertos de angariação de fundos.
- Tive oportunidade de partilhar sobre a missão em vários podcasts e programas de TV e rádio, bem como no Fórum Evangélico de 2026.
- A missão no Japão ganhou novos parceiros em oração e sustento financeiro, ultrapassando os 80% no alvo de angariação de fundos.
- Os contratos missionários foram assinados entre mim, a MEVIC e a IMB, fazendo de mim oficialmente uma Parceira Missionária Global e membro da equipa de Yokohama. O título do meu emprego é “Plantadora de Igrejas”!
- O meu pedido por um Visto de Férias-Trabalho para o Japão foi aceite à primeira, e obtive o Visto 7 dias depois.
- Consegui assegurar habitação (uma casa partilhada) com uma ótima localização, um preço acessível, e disponível para reserva desde o estrangeiro – uma oportunidade rara que surgiu no momento certo!
- Comprei a passagem – chego à minha nova cidade no dia 3 de Junho!

O mais engraçado é que, depois de 8 anos de oração, espera e preparação, os 6 últimos pontos na lista acima aconteceram todas no espaço de 3 semanas.
Neste momento encontro-me na ilha Terceira, em preparativos finais e despedidas antes da minha partida.
Planos a acontecer no Japão começam a ser registados na minha agenda, e tudo começa a parecer mais real.
Da mesma forma, atingir os 100% na angariação de fundos vai-se tornando mais urgente. Para que os 3 anos de missão possam ser levados a cabo sem ansiedade e sem obstáculos, falta-me angariar mais cerca de €750/mês. - 1 de Junho: PARTIDA de Portugal
- 3 de Junho: CHEGADA ao Japão
Durante o mês de Maio vou terminar os estudos do nível JLPT N5 (equivalente a A1) com a minha professora luso-japonesa e fazer as malas. No dia 1 de Junho, se Deus permitir, avanço rumo à Terra do Sol Nascente.
Duas semanas após chegar, participarei numa oportunidade única: a conferência do Agrupamento dos Missionários da IMB no Japão, a qual só acontece uma vez a cada 4 anos. Terei a chance de conhecer todos os missionários da minha junta e ouvir sobre o que têm feito e como tem corrido o seu ministério no Japão.
Nesta ida, levo comigo todas as orações, abraços, e palavras de encorajamento que me foram entregues ao longo dos últimos meses, e não subsistirei sem a vossa amizade e apoio continuado. Um novo capítulo se abre; a jornada até aqui já foi longa e rica, mas esta história está apenas a começar!”

“Dear friends and partners in mission;
Welcome to the third newsletter for the Mission in Japan – the last one to be sent out before going to the mission field!
I’m less than a month away from my arrival in Japan. This journey began 9 years ago when I decided to learn Japanese as nothing more than a hobby. Today, it is thanks to your partnership in prayer, friendship and financial support that I can confidently say the time has arrived for the things God had been preparing me for to come to pass. It is because I witenss the way God not only calls me, but calls you to go with me that today I have the unshakable certainty that this mission does not belong to us, but to the Lord, and that’s why “I am certain that God, who began the good work within [us], will carry it on to completion until the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6).

Here are the things that happened since the last newsletter!
- I got to know the IMB missions team in Yokohama a little better, and we formalized the decision for me to integrate it!
- I spent 19 challenging and edifying days on mission in Senegal.
- I spent my last Christmas with my whole family before moving to the other side of the world.
- I ran across continental Portugal and Spain to share about the mission in Japan with many new churches and longtime friends, and even play a few fundraising concerts.
- I had the opportunity to share about the mission on multiple podcasts, radio and TV shows, as well as on the 2026 Portuguese Evangelical Forum.
- The mission in Japan gained new partners in prayer and financial support, and we crossed the 80% mark on the fundraising process.
- The missionary contracts between MEVIC, IMB and myself were signed, officially making me a Global Missio-nary Partner and member of the Yokohama team. My job description is “Church Planter”!
- My request for a Working-Holiday Visa was immediately accepted on the first try, and I got the Visa within 7 days.
- I was able to secure housing (a share house) on a great location, at an affordable price, and available for reservation from abroad – a rare opportunity that showed up exactly at the right time!
- I bought my ticket – I will arrive in my new city on the 3rd of June!
status report
The funniest thing is that, after 8 years of praying, waiting and preparing, the 6 last points on the list above all happened within the span of 3 weeks.
At the moment, I’m on Terceira island, in final preparations and goodbyes before my departure.
Plans to be carried out in Japan are starting to be put down on my calendar, and things begin to feel very real.
Likewise, reaching 100% of the required mission funds becomes increasingly urgent. For the first 3 years of mission to be carried out free of obstacles and anxiety, I must raise the final €750/month. Dear reader and partner in mission, if you don’t yet support this mission financially, would you consider doing so?

June 1st: DEPARTURE from Portugal

June 3rd: ARRIVAL in Japan
During the month of May I shall finish my JLPT N5 studies (a level equivalent to A1) with my luso-japanese teacher, and pack my bags. On the 1st of June, God willing, I will be headed toward the Land of the Rising Sun.
Two weeks after I arrive, I’ll have the unique chance to participate on the IMB Japan Cluster Meeting: a conference with all IMB missionaries in Japan, which only happens once every 4 years. I’ll be able to meet most of my mission board’s workers on that field and hear about what they’ve been doing; how their ministry has been faring in Japan.
On this going, I bring with me every prayer, hug, and word of encouragement that has been shared with me in the last months, and I will not last long without your friendship and continued support. A new chapter is opening up; the journey has thus far been long and rich, but this story has only just begun!”
